Overview 👀
Default Flyout | ModernFlyouts
This application aims to provide a Fluent Design System based replacement for the old, built-in, Metro Design based Audio/Airplane mode/Brightness flyouts in Windows (which haven’t been updated since Windows
In case of Windows 11, this application will have the same UI but will provide additional features and customizability compared to the built-in redesigned flyouts.
This project has its roots in the app AudioFlyout by ADeltaX.
With additional implementations for «Airplane mode», «Brightness» and «LockKeys» (includes Insert key, Caps, Num & Scroll lock keys) flyouts, this project stands as a complete replacement for the built-in flyouts.
Note : The built-in flyout will not be permanently affected. It will be hidden temporarily while this application is running. So, no reason to fear breaking your system.
For more information on how to recover the original flyouts, check out this How To page.
Users are provided the freedom to choose between the Windows built-in flyouts or modern flyouts from ModernFlyouts or neither of them.
It is impossible to have a flyout for the keyboard backlight brightness or the function (Fn) key because they are not passed as keys but as hardware signals (which the OEMs decide). Any OS can receive those signals if they have the required driver.
Please check out the Wiki for additional information, guides and how-tos.
Please check out this document for support regarding your media player/browser.

NOTES 🗒️
Credits
First of all, we must thank our good friend ADeltaX for one of his marvelous works AudioFlyout. Since the project was stale for a while and it lacked support for brightness and airplane mode flyouts, this project was born. He not only let us use his source code but also helped us improve this app. And he still supports us 😄.
I must admit that this project wouldn’t be here how it is without ADeltaX. Our heartful thanks to him ❤.
We must also say a big thanks to our contributors for helping us with some important bug fixes, adding features and localization.

An open source, contemporary, and Fluent Design-based alternative to Windows 10’s outdated Metro-themed flyouts. Despite their ongoing efforts, Microsoft still has a ways to go before upgrading every aspect of Windows, its main operating system.
An open-source project called ModernFlyout is based on ADeltaX/Flyout. As mentioned, it swaps out your PCs’ standard flyout for one that seems more contemporary. It makes your flyout appear to be a component of Windows 10 and Windows 10X PCs because of its superb execution of Fluent Design and rounded corners. Additionally, it is totally configurable. Each module can be turned off, and its position can be altered. Even the opacity level and panel orientation for the session are adjustable. Additionally, the program offers themes with low, medium, and high contrast.
The flyouts’ timeout may also be changed in the software, which is a fantastic method to make it less intrusive. Even the Global Media Transport Controls (GSMTC), sometimes known as media controls for all apps, may be hidden with a single press. Media controls like shuffle, repeat, and stop can also be added. By using this, you may manage the media that is being played without opening the program that controls it.
The application is really simple to use. When it’s running, you ought should be able to customize it from the system tray. When this program is operating in the background, the built-in flyouts will momentarily be hidden. You can always end the process and return to the usual UI, so don’t be concerned. Up to Windows 10 version, 1809 can run this program. It also supports Windows 8 and beyond, although it will only support versions up to 1809 in order to streamline delivery. Overall, ModernFlyout is a tool that you can use if you are not happy with the appearance of the default one. It offers a decent selection of customizations that you can apply for it to fit the look of the latest Windows OS. Moreover, it comes with a few innovations that the built-in lacks, including the ability to move it around your screen and additional media controls.
Using this useful, free and open-source tool, you can enhance, modernise, and personalise the Windows audio, aircraft, and brightness notification flyouts.Given the complexity of its extensive range of choices, menus, and features,
Features:
- The screen may be moved around.
- further media controls
- Fluid UI
- Dark and light themes are supported.
- Light and Dark modes are supported.
- Flyouts for Airplane mode, Brightness, and Volume + Media have been updated.

Windows 11: Microsoft is finally redesigning the volume flyout
Windows 11’s leaked preview brought in some interesting new additions – including improved support for multi-monitor setups and touchscreen gestures. It appears that there are some nifty features hidden away in the leaked build, including a redesigned volume flyouts for media controls. For those unaware, volume flyout or music flyout is the little box that pops up on the top-left corner when you change the volume on your device using keyboard shortcuts. When you’re playing media via apps like Chrome, Groove Music and Spotify, it shows media controls. These media controls allow users to change track and pause/resume the media content playing inside the first or third-party programs. The volume flyout wasn’t redesigned when Microsoft introduced Windows 10 in 2015. As a result, it still uses the outdated “metro” design from the Windows 8 era.
Volume flyout on Windows 10 In addition to the old design, the volume flyout is a mess and some users have described their frustrating experience on Feedback Hub. With Windows 11, which is the next generation of the operating system, Microsoft is finally planning to replace the outdated volume flyout with a modern version that supports rounded corners and new controls.
As you can see in the above screenshot, there’s a new design for the volume flyout, but the new feature is disabled by default in the preview build. There’ll be new media playback controls in the fly-out and it looks like the company is also working on improvements for the media flyout which pops up from the taskbar when you adjust the volume.
Image Courtesy: Ahmed Microsoft is currently testing various size options. For example, there is “SmallUI”, “MediumUI”, “LargeUI”, “ReducedMarginsUI”, “CompactUI”, and “ExtraSmallUI” too. The flyout will be offered in two modes: NormalMediaLayout” and “AttributionOnlyLayout”, and it would be possible to hide the thumbnail. This overhaul has long been requested by many users, so this will certainly be a welcome change. As mentioned, the feature is under development and it has to be enabled using Visual Studio. Since the flyout is hidden, it’s possible that it will feature a different design when it exits beta testing later this fall. For most folks, it will be enabled by default when Windows 11 launches on June 24 in the Windows Insider channels.
