Изменение шрифта Windows 11 вручную в реестре

Первый способ предполагает внесение изменений в реестр Windows 11 и подмену стандартного шрифта Segoe UI выбранным вами шрифтом, установленным в системе. При этом шрифт будет изменён для всех системных элементов, но останется прежним для приложений UWP: встроенных, например «Параметры» и скачанных из магазина Microsoft Store.

Внимание: настоятельно рекомендую создать точку восстановления системы на случай, если результат вам не понравится, чтобы быстро откатить сделанные изменения.

Шаги для изменения шрифта будут следующими:

В Параметры — Персонализация — Шрифты выберите нужный вам шрифт. Далее потребуется имя этого шрифта (отмечено стрелкой на скриншоте).

Создайте файл .reg со следующим содержимым. Для создания можно запустить блокнот и вставить следующий текст, заменив имя шрифта на нужное:

Перезагрузите компьютер и в результате вы увидите, что шрифты изменились:

Как было отмечено выше: результат применения своего шрифта не всегда выглядит наилучшим образом и, кроме этого, в отдельных приложениях Windows 11 будут сохранены стандартные шрифты.

If you want to create a custom High Contrast theme in Windows 11, follow these steps:

Open the Windows Settings panel.

Click the Edit button.
Click on the Text color.

Click the Save as button.
Enter a theme name.

Select Apply to get a prompt to save the custom theme. Name it suitable, and it will apply the custom theme on your computer.

Using a drop-down on the top of the Select a colored rectangle to customize high contrast colors box, you can even toggle between all the custom and predefined themes.

In Windows 11, you will get the settings here: Settings > Accessibility > Contrast themes > Select a Contrast theme > Edit theme.

2] Play with the Backgrounds

Basically, the Desktop icon fonts are dynamic and change accordingly to the desktop background so that they are readable. Try this workaround and see if it helps.

Open Settings > Personalization. Under Background, select Solid color.

Then, choose a light background, e.g., orange, and the font will turn from white to black.

Then, immediately change your desktop background back to Picture and select your favorite. The color should remain black now.

This has worked for many and hopefully, it will work for you too.

2] Use Freeware

Download Desktop Icon Toy. After you have installed it like any other program, run the program.

From the left side navigation panel, select Color.

Make sure that Disable text drop shadow to allow changing color is enabled.

Now select Change Text Color under the section of Icon Text Color.

You will get a color pallet to select your color from.

When you select your color, select OK. Then, select OK for the Desktop Toy Icon window again.

Reboot your computer, and you will see the font color for the Desktop icons on your computer is changed.

You can download the latest version of Desktop Icon Toy from here. The unregistered version is free, and fully functional, but with restricted functionality after 14 days.

How to Change Icons on Windows 11

The experience of changing icons hasn’t changed at all from Windows 10. Here’s how you can do it.

1. On the desktop, right-click on the app shortcut that you want to change icon of and click on Properties.

2. Now on the Shortcut tab, click on the Change Icon button.

3. This will open another window where you can select choose from a bunch of available icons. Click on the Browse option to select an icon if you have one downloaded and save.

4. Select the icon that you want and click Open. Windows 11 supports ICO file type for icons. So if you have an image of an icon, you can convert it to ICO using the ICO Convert web app.

5. Once selected, click OK and then select Apply. Now you can close the Properties window.

Your icon should have been updated.

How to Change Icons on the Taskbar

To change the app icon on the Taskbar, right-click on it and under Properties, select the app itself.

You cannot change app’s icon on the Start Menu. Also, changing the icon of one shortcut will not affect other shortcuts of the same app. For example, changing Chrome’s icon on the desktop will not change Chrome’s icon in the Taskbar. You have to change it individually for each app shortcut.

How to Change Size of Icons on Windows 11

Changing size of icon for any app is easy enough on Windows 11. Just right-click any where on the desktop and select the View option.

Here you can choose from Large, Medium, and Small icon size. By default, Windows 11 is set to Medium icons, you can instantly change that.

How to Change Taskbar Size in Windows 11

Unfortunately, changing the size of icons on the desktop does not changes the size of the icons on the Taskbar. Also, with version 11, Windows no longer allows changing the size of the Taskbar. Nonetheless, we can update some keys in the Registry Editor to change Taskbar’s size.

1. First, open the Registry Editor by clicking on Windows button+R to open Run prompt, type regedit, and hit Enter. Alternatively, you can search and open Registry Editor using Windows Search.

2. In the Registry Editor, copy and paste the following directory path in the address bar at the top and hit Enter.

3. In the Advanced folder, right-click in an empty area in the right window-pane and select New > DWORD (32-bit) value to create a new key.

4. Rename the newly created Key as TaskbarSi.

5. Now open the key that you have just created and leave the value to 0 for small icons, change the value to 1 for medium icons, and change the value to 2 for large icons. Then click on OK to save changes.

6. Now Reboot the system for the changes to take place and you shall notice the size of Taskbar changed along with the size of icons housed in it.

For more Taskbar customizations, you can open Settings > Personalization > Taskbar and do things like automatically hide the Taskbar, move Taskbar icons towards left, and more.

How to Change Font Style on Windows 11

Windows’ default font, Segoe UI, is great, but you can change that to something else that suits your preference.

1. Press Windows key+I to open the Settings app and go to Personalization > Fonts. Here you shall find all the fonts that comes preinstalled in Windows 11.

Note: You can also install third-party fonts by dragging the TTF files into the Settings window. Once installed, you will find these fonts in apps too such as Microsoft Word.

2. But to install the font as a System font, copy the name of the font that you want on your system. Now open Start and search for and open Notepad.

3. Inside Notepad, paste the following code.

4. Now replace FONT-STYLE with the name of the font that you have copied. Make sure you are not missing capitals and spaces in the font name as it is case-sensitive.

5. Now save the file by giving it a name and using .reg at the end as file type format. Then choose All files in Save as type option.

6. Once saved, right-click on the file and then click on Open or just double-click on the file icon.

7. Then select Yes in pop-up window and then again select Yes to add your registry key to the Registry Editor.

8. Now restart your PC to implement the changes.

How to Change the Font Size on Windows 11

Unlike font style, changing font size is easy. Just open the Settings app again (Windows key+I) and go to Accessibility > Text size.

Now adjust the text size accordingly. You can see the Text size preview in the section above. Then click on the Apply button beside it. Your screen will go blue for few seconds before applying changes.

How to Change Font Size Temporarily on Windows 11

Often times you may find font size too small or big in certain apps or a specific page making it hard to read. Changing the text size systemwide may not be what you need. Instead, you need a temporary solution.

In some apps, you may be able to use the Windows + to magnify and Windows – to reduce the whole screen. In web browsers, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + to zoom in and Ctrl – to zoom in the open tab.

Although Windows’ default font looks quite nice, you can switch to one of your choosing if you want something different.

However, the process of changing the font is not as simple as it used to be on Windows 7 and 8. The following guide will show you how to do that in detail, whether you are trying to choose a font from the Control Panel or install one from an online source.

1. How to Change the Default Font Using the Control Panel

Windows 11 includes different fonts by default that you can install and set up for free. These are available in the personalization section of the Control Panel. Once you select a font, you need to set it up using the Registry Editor, which is an administrative utility in Windows.

To get started, here is all that you need to do:

Type Control Panel in the Windows search and click Open.
In the following window, choose Appearance and Personalization.

Click on Preview, delete, show, and hide fonts option under Fonts. You should now see a list of all the fonts available.

Enter a name for the file and add .reg with it. For instance, if you are choosing the Inter font, you can name the font as Inter.reg.
Now, launch this document and choose Yes in the prompt by the Registry Editor.
Click OK to proceed.

2. How to Install and Set Up New Fonts From the Microsoft Store

If you do not like any of the fonts available in the Control Panel/Settings app, you can install the new ones from the Microsoft Store. The build-in store has quite a few both free and paid options for you to peruse.

Here is how you can install and setup new fonts from the Microsoft Store:

Launch Settings and navigate to Personalization > Fonts.
Scroll down in the following window and click on Get more fonts in Microsoft Store.

Once you are inside the Microsoft Store, choose the font you like.

Click on the Get button and wait for the font to download.
After the font is downloaded, click Open and the font will automatically add itself to the Font section of the Settings app.
Note the complete name of the font and install it using the Registry Editor by following the steps we mentioned above.

3. How to Install and Setup New Fonts From Third-Party Apps

There are several font websites that offer hundreds of different free and paid options. Before you begin downloading fonts from the internet, it is important to know that Windows 11 supports the following font formats:

TrueType (file extension .ttf)
TrueType Collection (file extension .ttc)
OpenType (file extension .otf)
PostScript Type 1 (file extensions .pfb + .pfm)

The best place to find free fonts on the web is Google fonts.

Once you have downloaded the font of your choice, follow these steps to install it:

If the font is already in one of the formats we listed above, simply double-click on it to install it.
Now, go to the Appearance and Personalization > Fonts section of the Control Panel.
You should see the font listed there. Select it and follow the steps mentioned in the first method to complete the process.
Alternatively, you can also right-click on the downloaded font file and choose Copy.

4. How to Restore the Default Font

If at any point in the future you want to undo the changes and restore the default Windows font, follow these steps:

Head over to the Appearance and Personalization > Fonts section of the Control Panel.
Select Change Font Settings.

Next, click on the Restore default font settings button.

Restart your PC to make the changes.
