Загрузка и установка
Скачать последнюю версию Microsoft PowerToys можно одни из следующих способов:
- С официальной страницы на GitHub https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases/ (загружаем установщик с расширением .exe и устанавливаем его). При первом запуске могут сообщить об отсутствии компонента .NET Core. После согласия на установку, откроется сайт с этим компонентом, но загружать вручную его не нужно — через некоторое время установка запускается автоматически.
- Из Microsoft Store https://aka.ms/getPowertoys
- Используя winget и одну из команд (запустите Терминал Windows от имени администратора и выполните):

Какие-либо особенности установки отсутствуют: всё проходит без необходимости каких-либо дополнительных действий со стороны пользователя.
Сразу после установки программа будет автоматически запущена на экране знакомства с функциями, с возможностью их включения или отключения, а значок PowerToys появится в области уведомлений Windows:
Функции PowerToys
Для открытия параметров Microsoft PowerToys дважды нажмите по значку программы в области уведомлений (либо используйте правый клик и выбор пункта «Параметры»). На вкладке «Общее» вы можете перезапустить программу от имени администратора (для доступа к возможностям, которые требуют соответствующих системных привилегий) и включить постоянный запуск от имени администратора, включить или отключить автозапуск, изменить цветовую схему, настроить параметры обновлений.
Настройка возможностей программы, с возможностью отключить ненужные функции, производится в соответствующих подразделах параметров (приводится порядок, в котором функции представлены на экране с первоначальным ознакомлением с функциями):
- Расширенная вставка — преобразование контента, вставляемого из буфера обмена в JSON или Markdown.
- Always on Top — простое закрепление нужного окна поверх остальных окон комбинацией клавиш Win+Ctrl+T. На эту тему может быть полезным: Как закрепить окно поверх всех окон в Windows.
- Awake — функция, позволяющая полностью запретить спящий режим на компьютере (также может быть полезно: Как отключить спящий режим при использовании определенной программы), запретить спящий режим на определенное время или запретить отключение экрана. Управлять этими параметрами вы также можете с помощью значка Awake в области уведомлений.
- Цветоподборщик — позволяет быстро получить HEX, RGB или HSL код цвета на экране по сочетанию клавиш (по умолчанию Win+Shift+C).
- Команда не найдена — специальная функция, которая отображает, какие пакеты нужно установить, если набранная в PowerShell команда была не найдена.
- Обрезать и заблокировать — интересная функция создания обновляемого эскиза окна или интерактивного окна из выбранной вами области любого приложения.
- Переменные среды — простой редактор и просмотрщик переменных среды Windows (но можно и вручную: Как настроить переменные среды Windows).
- Fancy Zones — функция, позволяющая создать макеты размещения окон на экране монитора: создать области, в которые можно будет закреплять окна открытых программ. - File LockSmith — инструмент для просмотра процессов, которые блокируют файлы или папки и их разблокировки. Подробно об использовании — в отдельной статье.
- Надстройки для проводника — при включении опций позволяет выполнять предварительный просмотр файлов .SVG, .stl, .md, файлов исходного кода программ в проводнике (при условии, что в параметрах вида проводника включена область предварительного просмотра).
- Hosts File Editor — редактор файла Hosts, если изменение hosts вручную вам не удобно.
- Изменение размера изображений — добавляет в контекстное меню изображений пункт «Изменить размер изображений» для быстрого изменения размера и перекодирования изображений в соответствии с шаблонами, заданными в параметрах функции в PowerToys или введёнными вручную параметрами.
- Диспетчер клавиатуры — быстрое переназначение отдельных клавиш или их сочетаний. В левой части нажимаем клавишу или сочетание, которое будет переназначено, в правой — то, что будет выполнять эта клавиша или сочетание после переназначения. - Служебные программы мыши — функции для упрощения работы с мышью: поиска указателя, быстрое перемещение в нужную позицию и другие.
- Мышь без границ — использование одной мыши на нескольких компьютерах в одной локальной сети. Подробно в инструкции Как использовать Мышь без границ в PowerToys.
- Создать+ — добавление шаблонов создания новых элементов в контекстное меню Проводника и рабочего стола, подробно — в этом материале.
- Обзор — простой инструмент предварительного просмотра файлов в Windows.
- PowerRename — функция быстрого переименования файла, папки или группы файлов и папок через контекстное меню, куда будет добавлен пункт «Расширенное переименование». Возможно использование шаблонов для замены и другие опции. На эту тему может пригодиться: Программы для массового переименования файлов и папок.
- PowerToys Run — быстрый инструмент для запуска программ, приложений и системных элементов, запускаемый сочетанием клавиш Alt+Пробел, похожий на Spotlight в Mac OS. После открытия окна поиска введите первые символы элемента, который нужно открыть (вводить можно по-русски, результаты выдаются на английском языке). Нужный результат можно просто запустить, нажав по нему, а значки справа позволяют выполнить запуск от имени администратора или перейти к расположению файла.
- Quick Accent — инструмент для удобного написания букв с диакритическими знаками (например, ударениями).
- Registry Preview — просмотр и редактирование реестра.
- Линейка экрана — измерение расстояний на экране в пикселях.
- Подсказки по сочетаниям клавиш — отображает горячие клавиши Windows 11/10 при нажатии выбранного сочетания клавиш (по умолчанию Win+Shift+точка). Есть возможность отключить функцию для отдельных программ.
- Text Extractor — извлечение текста из снимков экрана.
- Рабочие области — простой способ запуска сразу нескольких приложений с предустановленными настройками расположения. Подробнее о функции.
- ZoomIt — продвинутая экранная лупа для Windows, позволяющая не только увеличивать элементы, но и создавать подписи и аннотации.

Подводя итог, программа удобна, содержит множество инструментов, какие-то из которых время от времени регулярно требуются почти всем пользователям и хорошо переведена на русский язык. Отдельно отмечу, что набор функций постоянно расширяется и с момента публикации первоначального варианта этого материала их количество увеличилось примерно в 2 раза.

Installing and running Microsoft PowerToys
Requirements
- Windows 11 or Windows 10 version 2004 (code name 20H1 / build number 19041) or newer.
- x64 or ARM64 processor
- Our installer will install the following items:
- Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime bootstrapper. This will install the latest version.
Via GitHub with EXE [Recommended]
Go to the Microsoft PowerToys GitHub releases page and click on Assets at the bottom to show the files available in the release. Please use the appropriate PowerToys installer that matches your machine’s architecture and install scope. For most, it is x64 and per-user.

Install from the Microsoft Store’s PowerToys page. You must be using the new Microsoft Store which is available for both Windows 11 and Windows 10.
Via WinGet
Download PowerToys from WinGet. Updating PowerToys via winget will respect current PowerToys installation scope. To install PowerToys, run the following command from the command line / PowerShell:

Windows Shortcut Guide (советчик по быстрым клавишам Windows), который напоминает доступные в ОС сочетания «горячих» клавиш, что позволяет ускорить выполнение ряда операций. Для доступа к этому инструменту необходимо удерживать клавишу Windows нажатой более одной секунды.
FancyZones (оконный менеджер) даёт возможность создавать заранее сконфигурированные рабочие зоны и передавать в них приложения, что позволяет более удобно работать с несколькими программами на одном экране. Вызов данной утилиты осуществляется одновременным нажатием кнопок Windows + `(тильда).
Image Resizer (изменение размеров изображения) представляет собой графическую утилиту для изменения размера одного или нескольких изображений. Достаточно выбрать изображение в Проводнике, кликнуть по нему правой кнопкой мыши и указать данную опцию для открытия окна выбора параметров, где уже встроено несколько пресетов.
Windows Walker (текстовая альтернатива Alt+Tab) добавляет опцию для быстрого поиска процессов в системе. Функция представляет собой текстовую альтернативу Alt+Tab, которая активируется при нажатии горячей клавиши Ctrl+Windows. Данная функция открывает окно с поисковой строкой, выполняющей поиск по активным процессам. Просто введите название процесса, чтобы получить результат.
Keyboard Manager позволяет переназначать как отдельные клавиши («Remap a Key»), так и их сочетания («Remap shortcuts»). Обратите внимание, что правила переназначения будут работать только если эта утилита работает в фоновом режиме.
PowerToys Run (лончер приложений) вызывается сочетанием Alt + Пробел. Вам нужно ввести имя приложения, папки или файла, который нужно запустить, и выбрать его из списка результатов. Утилита выполняет поиск по запущенным процессам и включает в себя функциональность Window Walker.

Windows comes with default set of features that you can customize using Windows Settings app. Though old Control Panel app still exists in Windows 11, most of the features are combined with the Settings app. You can also tweak Windows using Registry Editor and customize the default settings. However, there is an official tool from Microsoft is available for tweaking Windows that many users do not aware. It is Microsoft PowerToys, and we will go through all the features available with this power tool in this article.
What is Microsoft PowerToys?
PowerToys is a free and official application from Microsoft to customize Windows right from the front end. It contains more than ten tools, and you can enable or disable the required tool using an interface like Windows Settings app. Microsoft PowerToys was first released for Windows 95 and the latest version needs Windows 10 or 11. You can check the history of PowerToys in this Wikipedia article and below are the tools available with the latest version in Windows 11.

Installing PowerToys in Windows
You can use one of the following methods to install PowerToys in your computer.
- Find Microsoft PowerToys app from Microsoft Store and install.
- Get the executable file GitHub and manually install.
The app needs to run in the background and in administrator mode for the features to work. If you are not using admin mode, the app will show a warning message in “General” section, and you can enable an option to always open the app in admin mode. In addition, you can go to “Welcome to PowerToys” section to view the summary of each app, tips, and the documentation link. Go to “Dashboard” section to enable or disable individual tools required for you.
1. Advanced Paste
This tool allows you to paste the content from clipboard in various formats. You can paste as a plain text, markdown or JSON. The tool can be triggered using “Win + Shift + V” keyboard shortcuts. You can also paste in different formats using OpenAI integration.
2. Always On Top
You can keep any app active always on top of other apps using this feature. You can trigger the action by pressing the assigned keyboard shortcut “Win + Control + T” and then selecting an app window. You can select multiple apps to keep them on top other open windows. There are customization options available to change the border color of the top app to highlight. PowerToys also allows you to exclude apps to pinning them on top.
3. Awake
By default, Windows will go to sleep mode and turn off the display when detecting inactivity after the set duration. You can change this from your power settings whenever needed. However, Awake tool in PowerToys helps to manage this without accessing your power settings. For example, you may want to run a long program and do not want the system goes to sleep mode which will terminate the background processing. In this case, make sure you have enabled “Awake” feature in PowerToys and select the required power mode.
You have the following options:
- Keep using the selected power plan which will use your power settings.
- Keep awake indefinitely – keep the system awake till the time you turn off manually.
- Keep awake temporarily – select this option and then the duration in hours and minutes to keep your system awake during that time. After that system will follow your default Windows power settings.
- Keep screen on – do not turn the display off.
4. Color Picker
This is a simple option to find the color code value of any you see on the screen. Trigger the color picker by pressing “Win + Shift + C” shortcut key. Now, move the picker pen to see the code of the color. Click on any color to open the color picker which will show the color code values in more than ten different formats like RGB, HEX, HSV, etc. you can change the behavior to directly open the editor or only pick a color and rearrange the order of the formats to show in the editor. Also, the first color format value will be automatically copied to your clipboard so that you can easily paste wherever you needed.
5. Command Not Found
If you are frequently using PowerShell app, then use this utility to find errors related to your commands. This tool will also suggest WinGet packages required to be installed for the commands.
6. Crop and Lock
This is a powerful tool that enables users to isolate and pin specific parts of their screen. Designed for multitaskers and those who need to focus on particular screen content, Crop and Lock allows users to “cut out” a section of any window and create a floating, resizable widget of that section. This cropped widget remains on top of other windows, providing quick access to key information, whether it is a snippet from a document, a section of a video, or a real-time feed from a data tool.
7. Environment Variables
Environmental Variables are dynamic values in an operating system that can influence the behavior of applications and system processes. You can create variables for profile, user or system and also view currently applied variables.
8. FancyZones
If you love Windows love split screen options shown over the maximize icon on the windows, then this tool is for you. Press “Win + Shift + Prime” keys to open the layout editor where you can use one of the predefined settings or create your custom layout. After selecting the layout, press shift key and drag and drop the windows to the layout’s section. You can easily customize the behavior, appearance and exclude apps to rearrange your layouts to work as per your convenient.
9. File Locksmith
File Locksmith is a handy utility designed to help users identify which processes are locking a specific file or folder, preventing it from being modified or deleted. This feature is particularly useful when encountering errors that state a file is “in use” or “locked by another process,” as it quickly pinpoints the source of the lock. By simply right-clicking a file or folder and selecting the File Locksmith option, users can view a list of processes currently using the file and take further action, such as terminating the process or unlocking the file.
10. File Explorer add-ons
Using PowerToys, you can add add-ons to the default Windows File Explorer to enable preview of SVG, PDF, markdown, source code and G-code files. In addition, the tool will also add extensions for PDF, SVG and G-code.
For example, you can enable PDF preview option to view the live preview of PDF files in File Explorer preview pane.
11. Hosts File Editor
Traditionally, editing the hosts file requires administrative privileges and can be cumbersome due to its plain text format. The Hosts File Editor is a utility that simplifies the process of editing the hosts file on Windows, which is commonly used to map hostnames to IP addresses for customized network configurations. The hosts file allows users to redirect URLs to specific IPs or block access to certain sites at the system level, often for testing purposes, local development, or managing network behavior.
12. Image Resizer
This is a tool for those who want to resize the image in bulk. You can setup the preset image size and bulk resize images with single click. After enabling this tool in PowerToys app, go to File Explore and select one or more images that you want to resize. Right click on the select images and go to “Show more options” and then select “Resize Pictures”. On the pop-up window, you can change the preset dimension if required and resize all the select images to requires size.
13. Keyboard Manager
This tool in PowerToys app helps to remap individual key, combination of keys and keyboard shortcuts. For example, you can replace the default shortcut “Alt + F4” with your custom shortcut like “Ctrl + Shift + F4”. Learn more on how to use keyboard manager tool to remap key functions.
14. Mouse utilities
This is a collection of tools to control the behavior of your mouse. For example, you can easily find the mouse cursor by pressing the control key on the left side of the keyboard twice. Right click on the selected files and go to “Show more options > PowerRename” option. This will open a pop-up window where you can search and replace file renames in bulk.

This is an ultimate tool helps you to search and carry out actions. After enabling this option in the PowerToys tools, simply press “Alt + Space” to open a search box. Using this search box, you can search for files, do math calculations, and trigger system commands. For example, type shutdown and press enter to turn off your computer. You can enable or disable the items this tool should use in the settings page to customize the results.

Компания Microsoft выпустила обновленную версию утилиты PowerToys для расширения возможностей Windows.
Одним из ключевых нововведений в PowerToys 0.73.0 стала функция Crop and Lock, которая позволяет обрезать окно приложения, оставив только нужный для работы интерактивный фрагмент.
При этом функция предлагает сразу два варианта работы:
- Thumbnail — выделенный фрагмент динамически обновляется из исходного окна, но действия пользователя не отражаются в нём;
- Reparent — обрезанная часть приложения отображает действия пользователя, но работает не везде.
Запустить режим Thumbnail можно сочетанием клавиш Windows+Ctrl+Shift+T, а Reparent — Windows+Ctrl+Shift+R. Скачать актуальную версию Microsoft PowerToys можно с GitHub.
