Why do I have a device in the Other Devices?
I noticed that there has been a device called OTA 1 in the other devices in my device manager. I don’t know how to uninstall it properly. I tried to uninstall it by right clicking it but it would pop right back up and I’m not sure how to get rid of it. When I hit the details about it there is a value that says BTHENUM/ with a lot of numbers on it and I don’t know if I have to install a driver or something?I think it has been causing errors with my mouse not working properly, it keeps on scrolling on it’s on and when I try to click on tabs or windows it won’t work unless I hit the windows key +

X800 GTO2 = Unknown Device
I flashed the BIOS on my X800 GTO2 last night and it is listed in the Device Manager as an Unknown Device. Is this normal?

GPU-Z device list enumeration, device order?
Specifically, how are the the GPUs listed in the drop down sorted, or determined? Vendor and PCI ID? OS hardware device list? Other?
Sorry if this was answered somewhere already. Searching for «GPU LIST ORDER» and like terms were not helpful.
Thanks.

Why do I have a device in the Other Devices?
Device Manager Un-Hiding Hidden Devices
When you connect a plug and play device, Windows Plug and Play manager detects it, finds and installs the driver. Device Manager lists the device with a solid icon.
The driver is only removed when you uninstall the device, not simply by disconnecting the device. When the device is disconnected, its driver is still installed. By default, Device Manager only displays connected devices. When you show hidden devices, note the Bluetooth icon you see is semi-transparent (not opaque). That indicates a «non-present» device. Sometimes also called a «ghost» device. The driver is still installed but the device is not currently detected (i.e. not connected).
Device can be disconnected when
- Device unplugged (e.g. removing a USB device)
- Turning a device OFF
- Disabling the device in BIOS (then windows won’t detect it) or
- Device failure
So
- Check BIOS as suggested
- Check board connections
- Can b/t be turned off by a switch? or keyboard combination?
Also possible the b/t h/w failed

Completed windows updates and ran Dell Command Updates too.
Went well and the laptop works fine.
Noticed in Device Manager (show hidden devices) that there are 2 «other» devices with a ? mark.
a) Intel Tile Device
b) Unknown Device — hardware id says: USB4\VIRTUAL_POWER_PDO&VID_8086&PID_A73E&REV0001
Question — should I even be bothered by this?? perhaps a bit OCD …
Been searching online for a solution but cant find one.
Is this an issue? If my device is missing drivers, can a kind soul let me know which specific drivers I need for these 2 devices?
Any help is much appreciated!

Tile technology is built into select devices with an Intel WLAN module. I found its also associated with bluetooth. I suggest you go to Intel. Use its Driver Support Assist tool and let it update your drivers. Go here, click on SUPPORT,under DRIVERS & DOWNLOADS, select Auto Update your Drivers.

Really trying to avoid additional apps & downloads — hence the fresh install which got rid of 300,000 files (mainly Dell).
Would there be any issue leaving the 2 «Other» Devices in Hidden devices alone? Any advice?

No. Hidden devices are devices Windows has detected at some point but are currently not in use. If everything is working great and no device is marked by a yellow triangle, you’re good to go. Don’t try to fix things that aren’t broken.

If you uninstalled a lot of Dell support software, there is a possibility that it also removed some drivers for you.

Here’s how to disable include drivers with WU. If you have Pro, use the group policy method. If you have Home, use the regedit method.

Interesting….
Can you find something visible(in use) related to ThunderBolt in DeviceManager? It is possible that during initial Windows setup the TB stuff got detected but after correct drivers installed the route/config changed a bit, and thus Windows thinks it is a different device that disappeared. That would explain the hidden status.

I have windows updates, dell command updates and now intel all running — would there be any conflicts?
Like I said earlier, I strongly suggest your disable including drivers with windows update and rely on Dell Command update to keep your drivers current.
Here’s what I did. Rather than having DCU running all the time, I removed Dell Command Update from Startup. When I want to check for updates, I run the app. If there’s an update to DCU app, the application will update itself when I manually check for drivers which I do every month or so. It is especially good at keeping my UEFI bios updated without any muss or fuss on my behalf. This is the app I rely on the most to keep my drivers updated.
Regarding Intel Driver Support Assist tool, the only time I recommend a user to use it is if they have a problem with their current OEM drivers or they have missing drivers. Any driver Intel updates eventually filters down to the OEMs so the user will get those drivers at some point using their OEM updating tool. IDSA is also good to use if a user has graphics or wireless problem using the OEM driver. It will offer a user Intel’s very latest version of these drivers that may not yet be on the OEM servers.
So, if IDSA did not help you solve the problem, you can uninstall it. It’s easy enough to reinstall if you ever need it.
Found that driver and attempted to install it.Said … Your system does not require this driver and installation failed …
Here’s the only thing I know to try. We’re going to pinch on the Microsoft servers in this case. Create a system restore point or make an image first. Go here
Find this driver and download it. This driver is in .cab file format. I did find your thunderbolt PCI/Ven in the resources notes attached to this driver.
This driver is in .cab file. Use Option 2 in this tutorial to install it Install CAB file in Windows 10

Found that driver and attempted to install it.Said … Your system does not require this driver and installation failed
Go to Dell drivers & downloads, enter your Dell Service tag and then it will only offer you the correct drivers for the hardware that was included when you bought the computer.
Best of luck,
Denis

The «problematic» device is hidden for a reason
It’s not hidden as in not-currently-connected.
Its presence in the Other devices section indicates that Windows cannot find a driver for it.
In the diagram the OP posted, it is displaying with the same intensity as the other items. Windows has detected the device but cannot do anything with it because it cannot find a driver for it.
In this [Windows 10] example, the Bluetooth device, the second OTA1 & the first Self are Hidden whilst the others are not.
Similarly, in this Windows 11 example, several disks & network adapters are ‘hidden’, not currently connected.
All the best,
Denis

That seems to be cause of mysterious Device Manager issues, quite a lot of the time.
And it never hurts to update the chipset drivers.
@Latitude 7440
You should probably do this. Intel folks should be able to help with this…

I’d bet it’s part of the chipset drivers.
I think this is the case. I would not use the Intel Driver assistant though, and rather use the Dell drivers downloadable from their site. While the Intel directly provided drivers may work, they may also cause issues, because of some minor config difference. The OEM drivers are always the first ones you should try and only if they cause issues, should you look into grabbing drivers directly from the chip manufacturer.

See theses posts…
Three «Other devices» in my Device Manager
www.elevenforum.com
I know a certain individual here is going to argue me down that I’m wrong (we had this discussion before), but that’s his opinion, and one easily disproved per posts and links.
If you read the links, you will see how you can possibly identify what those devices are. And BTW, I have the same «Other» in my Device Manager with question marks, and knowing what I know, all is good. You were right the first time… there’s nothing broken.
Peace

I am right. In the first link, there’s a video, that tells you about the entries, and how to verify them, and remove them. That said, nothing wrong with them being there. Also, if you remove them, and then reconnect the deices they’re associated with, they’ll reappear.
Now if a yellow exclamation mark as shown in post#25 of the first link, then you have an issue. The OP shows no such marks, so the entries are normal, and without issue.
BTW, there is zero need to disable any drivers as the OP doesn’t have a driver issue. If one takes the time to read the verbiage, and watch the video things become extremely clear

I also know exactly what this one is on my system with the yellow triangle. That would be my Smart Watch charger, and I am not bothered about it the least:

Devices and Drivers
Windows»

RaptorLake, You are very welcome. Thank you very much for sharing the SSU document.
Based on the information shown in the SSU report, we can confirm that all the components are properly installed and recognized by the system. Also that the Intel® 14600K processor is fully compatible with the MAG B660M MORTAR DDR4 (MS-7D42):
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B660M-MORTAR-DDR4/support#cpu
We also found that the BIOS version currently installed on your device is from 02/11/2023, and there is a newer BIOS version available which is 7D42v1F from 11/06/2023:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B660M-MORTAR-DDR4/support#bios
In order to try to fix this problem, please get in contact directly with MSI Support for them to provide the instructions on how to update the BIOS to the latest version since the processor not only has to be fully compatible with the board itself but also with its BIOS version as well:

devmgmt.msc
); - Обратите внимание, что в разделе Other Devices есть несколько устройств с желтыми восклицательными знаками и в том числе Unknown Device (этот список по-умолчанию разворачивается, если на компьютере есть хотя бы одно неизвестное устройство);
- Проверьте, может ли Windows автоматически определить и установить драйверы для неизвестных устройств;
- Щелкните правой кнопкой по устройству и выберите Обновить драйвер (Update Driver);
- Выберите пункт Search automatically for drivers/Автоматический поиск драйверов;
- Windows попытается найти среди драйверов в локальном хранилище драйверов DriveStore наиболее подходящий драйвер. Если Windows не нашла драйвер, она предложит найти драйвер через Windows Update. Нажмите кнопку Search for updated drivers on Windows Update;
Откройте панель Settings и перейдите в Update and Security -> Windows Update -> View Optional Updates -> Driver Updates (или выполните команду быстрого доступа ms-settings:
ms-settings:windowsupdate-optionalupdates
- Откройте свойства устройства Unknown Device в диспетчере оборудования Windows и перейдите на вкладку Details;
- Выберите в выпадающем списке параметр Hardware IDs;
https://devicehunt.com/
7 Series/C216 Chipset Family MEI Controller #1
от
Intel Corporation
Google.
Update Drivers -> Browse my computer for drivers
Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_PnpEntity -ComputerName localhost -Namespace Root\CIMV2 | Where-Object {$_.ConfigManagerErrorCode -gt 0 } | select Name, DeviceID, ConfigManagerErrorCode| ft
28 (The drivers for this device are not installed, Code 28, CM_PROB_FAILED_INSTALL).
