Windows 10.

    • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  1. Click on Start.
  2. Type cmd.exe.
  3. Select Run as administrator.
  4. In the elevated Command Prompt window, type “sfc /scannow” (without quotes) and press Enter.
  5. Wait for the system file scan to complete. If any issues are found, the SFC will attempt to repair them automatically.
  6. Next, run the following commands one line at a time:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  1. The DISM scan requires an internet connection to download necessary files for the repair process. Allow the procedure to finish.

Follow: SFC /Scannow, DISM.Exe, CHKDSK Windows 11 or 10.

Reset PC (Backup Data First)

If all else fails, you can try resetting your PC to its default settings. This step should be taken with caution, as it will remove all installed applications and settings so before proceeding, make sure to back up your important data to prevent any loss.

The responses I have found to fix this say to plug in the printer then try to do the update.  And This thread has asked about the model of the printer.  I haven’t used this printer for years and have thrown it away so I can’t plug it in and I had several HP printers I don’t have or know the model number.  Is there a way to stop trying to install a update I don’t need?

Looked forever to try to solve this. Finally a good solution for advanced but not an expert person like me.

Method 2 worked on this YouTube Video that I found.  You can hide the install. Just follow the directions and it wont bother the crap out of you, like it did me. It’s **bleep** retentiveness which is curse as well as plus in my life.

Here is the link.
