Kaspersky Internet Security cannot be installed on Microsoft Windows 7 and Miсrosoft Windows Server 2008 R2 if the following updates are not installed:

1. KB4490628 (update from 12 march 2019);
2. KB4474419 (update from 23 september 2019).

Installation error occurs as a result of Microsoft having updated the algorithm for signing modules and drivers of third-party applications. Now modules and drivers of third-party applications (including Kaspersky) are signed using SHA256 hashing algorithm. You need to install updates for KB4490628 and KB4474419, so that Kaspersky Internet Security modules and drivers could be signed using SHA256 hashing algorithm.

Use one of the following methods to install the updates.

Update installation using Windows Update

If automatic installation of updates is disabled on your computer:

1. In Start menu, select Control Panel → System and Security → Windows Update.

   Windows Update window opens.

2. In the left-hand menu of Windows Update window, select Change settings.
3. In the Important updates block that opens, select Install updates automatically (recommended).

All the necessary updates will be automatically downloaded and installed on your computer.

Manual installation of Service Pack 1 if it’s not installed

If your computer runs on Windows 7 Service Pack 0 or Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 0, first you need to install Service Pack 1 (KB976932).

To install Service Pack 1 update:

1. Go to Microsoft Update Catalog.
2. Select your computer’s OS version and click Download button.
3. Download the update to your computer by clicking the link in the opened window.
4. Install the update.

Manual installation of KB4490628

To install KB4490628 manually:

1. Go to Microsoft Update Catalog.
2. Select your computer’s OS version and click Download button.
3. Download the update to your computer by clicking the link in the opened window.
4. Install the update.

Manual installation of KB4474419

To install KB4474419 manually:

1. Go to Microsoft Update Catalog.
2. Select your computer’s OS version and click Download button.
3. Download the update to your computer by clicking the link in the opened window.
4. Install the update.

After updates are installed, restart the computer and install Kaspersky Internet Security again.
