I had a compatibility issue message in the Get Windows 10 app caused by an NVIDIA driver for weeks. If you are facing the same problem, here is what I did to solve this.

Get Windows 10 app showed the message “Unfortunately, this PC is unable to run Windows 10“.

The Compatibility issue message for my NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / NVIDIA nForce 630a was:

The display manufacturer hasn’t made your display compatible with Windows 10. Check with the manufacturer for support.

In order to solve this, you need to do a manual upgrade using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. Here you can download this tool:

Then, follow the tool instructions to upgrade to Windows 10. In my case, I had no problems with the installer. If you get the Compatibility issue message here too, use the option to create an installation media and upgrade through a USB flash drive or an ISO file.

After the upgrade, you will need to install the latest NVIDIA driver. By default, Windows 10 uses Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

Download the latest driver for GeForce 6 Series or GeForce 7 Series here:

Otherwise, search for your driver here: Download NVIDIA Drivers.

Install the NVIDIA driver and your done! If everything is fine, you should see your NVIDIA listed under Display adapters in Device Manager.

Some users executed the installer with the Troubleshoot compatibility option. In my case it was not necessary.

Screen Resolution

If your screen resolution is not set automatically, you need to change it manually.

Go to your Desktop, right-click your mouse and select Display settings.
Go to the bottom and select Advanced display settings.
Select your screen resolution from the drop-down menu and click Apply.

GeForce Go 6 Series and GeForce Go 7 Series (Notebooks)

For GeForce Go 6 or 7 Series (Notebooks) the latest driver is 179.48 from Feb 11, 2009. However, it is possible to use the 307.68 driver available on Windows Update for Windows 8.1. It was reported here to be compatible with the GeForce Go 7300 and Windows 10. Also, it worked perfectly on a GeForce Go 6800.

Follow the same process described above, but install this driver on Windows 10:

These are cabinet files (.cab). So, you will need to extract all the files in order to run setup.exe. You can use the File Explorer or an application like WinRAR.

If you couldn’t install the previous driver, you need to do the following:

Install this driver on Windows 10 and restart

Open Device Manager and extend Display adapters
Right-click on the sub item and select Update Driver Software…
Select Browse my computer for driver software
Select “C:\NVIDIA” as the location, which should have been created by the driver. Make sure Include subfolders is checked
Finally, the driver will be successfully installed on Windows 10

This last procedure worked on a GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M for 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

These are all the supported products for the drivers included in the post. The check mark icon next to a NVIDIA model means that a user successfully installed Windows 10 and leaved a comment 😃.

NVIDIA Installer cannot continue

You will need to do some extra work if you see this message in the installer:

NVIDIA Installer cannot continue
This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware.

First, open the Device Manager and check if you have listed the entry PCI Express Root Port with a warning sign. If you have it:

Open the start menu and type “cmd” in the search box
Right-click on cmd.exe and select Run as administrator
In the command window, type
bcdedit /set pciexpress forcedisable
Reboot your computer and try to install the driver again

If that didn’t work, the final solution is to modify an NVIDIA INF file in order to detect the unrecognized hardware. Follow the instructions on this video:

No upgrade to windows 10 — GetForce drivers only support up to win8 so far — you could try upgrading Video card(graphics cards ) if you have a free pci express graphics card slot.

I had a similar problem with my PC. It has an embeedded NVIDIA GeForce 7100 / nForce 630i card. I figured there had to be a fix.

I have two video cards, so I was able to get Win10 64 bit nstalled by disabling the on-board video and using only an addon card.
Then I downloaded the NVIDIA drivers for Windows 8 64 bit. I extracted the files and shut down the computer. I reneabled the onboard video in BIOS. Windows detected it as a basic driver, but it wouldnt work. I right-clicked the setup for the Windows 8 64 bit drivers, and set compatibility mode to Windows 8. Then I installed the driver. it asked to reboot, I clicked reboot later. In Device Manager, I noticed that it showed the correct driver, but it had the yellow exclamation. I disabled it. Again click reboot later. Then enabled it. and suddenly the monitor plugged into the onboard came to life.

No you can’t.
sadly this graphics hardware is now very old OVER 10 years. As such it is no longer supported by NVDIA.
BEST solution is to buy a new PCI express slot graphics card that will work with your PC & Win 10

I’m using the Windows 8 drivers for an old nvidia card without problems.

You should be able to. I was even able to install a 2008 Vista driver for a GeForce Go 6100 GPU on Windows 10 and just yesterday hacked a much more recent Windows 8.1 driver to run just fine with that officially unsupported GPU (see http://forums.windowscentral.com/wi…orked-but-display-issues-now.html#post3203939).

For you, the latest Windows 8.1 driver for this card should work just fine and if not do what I did and install Windows Vista or 7 drivers, they should run just fine.

After reading a few posts, I tried downloading the Win 7/8 driver directly from NVIDIA. It works fine on Win 10. Glad it was so easy and that I’m not tossing the pc or getting new video card.:excited:

I have a laptop with a Nvidia 7600 and when I attempted to upgrade to Windows 10 I got a message that Nvidia doesn’t support and doesn’t plan to support my graphics card for Windows 10. The upgrade stopped and I remained at Windows 7.
