i guess il wait around , until INTEL adds more support for processors in the future to come.

It is not Intel that limits your processor being supported.  It is microsoft, so complain to them (although it will do no good).

Look at the list — it belongs to microsoft, not Intel.

As Al indicated, It is possible to run Windows 11 in a degraded — and definitely unsupported — mode on older PCs. There are limitations (like availability of TPM support) and it does take some hacking to get it installed.

Also as Al indicated, the supported-processor decisions were made by Microsoft. Microsoft drew the line based largely on the availability of a specific execution-isolation security technology, called Virtualization-Based Security (VBS). Intel introduced support for VBS in its 7th gen processors, but Windows 11 support is mostly limited to Intel’s 8th gen processors (Microsoft chose to only validate a very small number of 7th gen processors).

I’m new to this forum. Looking for some help. I have an HP Envy 750-177c and I’d like to upgrade to Windows 11. MS tool says the processor is not supported. 

System info says the following: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3408 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s).

Can someone help me identify the appropriate processor that would meet Windows 11 requirements? 

This is a home machine, no heavy graphics, medium use.

I have found your post while looking to see if I can upgrade my CPU for faster performance. My laptop have the same Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz as yours and I’m successfully running Windows 11 which no issues and have been running Win 11 since the release.

All you need to do is go to https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11 and follow the instructions. I hope this helps if it’s not too late.

@Cloudxiii    It is only running W11 because of a hack.  And, you are not supported by Intel or Microsoft; not for the processor, and not for W11.
