Bad Pool Header Error

1. What Is Bad Pool Header Blue Screen Error?

Bad Pool Header indicates that your computer runs into a problem in allocating memory. «Pool» is
«Memory pool», which is mainly created by the memory manager of Windows system to allocate memory,
while «Header» refers to header annotation which defines how a function uses its parameters and
return value. So Bad Pool Header is an error that happens when the header of the memory pool is corrupted because a
process is not properly removed from the memory pool.

Many things may cause memory allocation on Windows. The Bad Pool Header error usually happens when:

  • An Anti-malware software is installed and is not compatible with your computer;
  • There are outdated drivers driver conflict on your computer;
  • RAM memory is faulty.

When you see the blue screen with Bad Pool Header on Windows 10/8/7, the first thing you should do is let Windows

Safe Mode.

To enter Safe Mode, press the F8 Key again and again on your computer’s startup until you see Safe Mode option. Then
choose Safe Mode and hit Enter.

Method 1: Test RAM with Memory Diagnostics Tool

test on RAM memory with Windows’ built-in Memory Diagnostic tool. There are two ways to run Windows Memory Diagnostic
tool.

  1. Click Start menu, type «Windows Memory Diagnostic» in the search bar, and hit Enter.
  2. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog, type «mdsched.exe» and hit Enter.

Once the Windows Memory Diagnostic dialog appears, click Restart now and check for the problem to check if there is
any problem with RAM memory.

Method 2: Disconnect External Hardware

If the Bad_Pool_Header error happens after you recently install a new external device (a new RAM, e.g.) on the
computer, the culprit could be the external hardware or its driver. If you cannot decide which external device is
messing up the computer, disconnect all the external hardware except the keyboard and mouse and
restart the PC.

If the Bad Pool Header blue screen error stops showing up, plug the devices back to your computer. Instead of
connecting all external devices to PC, you want to connect the device to PC one at a time and restart the PC each time
a device is connected. If the Bad Pool Header error comes up again right after a hardware device is connected, you’ll
know that it is the device or its driver is causing the head pool header.

Method 3: Uninstall Anti-malware Software

The bad pool header could also occur because of incompatible anti-malware software. So if you have installed
anti-malware program such as Malware Bytes, uninstall the software and restart your PC.

hardware could be the problem. Uninstall the recently installed third-party applications and go to Devices Manager and
uninstall the drivers of recently connected hardware.

Uninstall Hardware Drivers

Method 5: Update Drivers

Windows Power Options

Step 2 Click Choose what the power button does > Change settings that are currently unavailable.

Turn off Fast Startup

Method 8: Perform A Clean Boot

Try these fixes

Just work your way down until this nasty 0x00000019 Bad Pool Header problem goes away.

  1. Update your device drivers
  2. Disable Fast Startup (For Windows 10 and 8 only)
  3. Disable Windows search
  4. Run Windows Memory Diagnostic
  5. Check for hardware issues
  6. Check disk errors

Fix 1: Update your device drivers

Your outdated/corrupted drivers are the most common reason behind this 0x00000019 blue screen of death issue. It can be difficult to put finger on which one is offending our system so we need to update ALL the drivers available to help resolve the situation.

There’re two ways you can update your device drivers — manually or automatically:

Update your drivers manually – To troubleshoot the issue, you can update all available drivers manually ONE BY ONE until you pin down the exact driver at fault. Firstly you’ll have to go to the manufacturer’s website, search for the most recent correct driver for the devices. Be sure to choose ONLYdrivers that are compatible with your variant of Windows system versions. Then download & update them on your own.

OR

Update your drivers automatically  – Manually updating all the drivers is no picnic. If you don’t have the time, patience or computer skills to update your drivers manually, you can, instead, do it automatically with Driver EasyYou don’t need to know exactly what system your computer is running, you don’t need to risk downloading and installing the wrong driver, and you don’t need to worry about making a mistake when installing.

You can update your drivers automatically with either the FREE or the Pro version of Driver Easy. But with the Pro version it takes just 2 clicks (and you get full support and a 30-day money back guarantee):

  1. Download and install Driver Easy.
  2. Run Driver Easy and click the Scan Now button. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.

  3.  You can upgrade to the Pro version and click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of ALL the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system.

You can also click Update to do it for free if you like, but it’s partly manual.

  4. Restart your computer and keep track of your PC to see if the blue screen and crashing problem gets fixed.

Fix 3: Disable Windows search

Windows search is a service in our system that keeps an index of files on your computer to improve searching speed. But it can also be corrupted and responsible for this blue screen issue. So we might have to disable it to see if it works. Here’s how:

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key   and R at the same time. Then copy & paste services.msc into the box and press Enter.

  2. Scroll down to Windows Search. Then right click on Windows Search and click Stop.

  3. Double-click on Windows Search. Then in Startup type:, choose Disabled.

  4. Click Apply > OK
  5. Restart your computer and check if this 0x00000019 Bad_Pool_Header ever happens again.

Fix 4: Run Windows Memory Diagnostic

If you’ve recently made any changes to your computer, say upgrading memory etc., then we might have to run the built-in Windows tool called Windows Memory Diagnostic to help check our system for memory problems and see if it fixes this 0x00000019 blue screen problem.

The whole memory test will take 20 minutes or even longer. Be sure to have enough time set aside before you run Windows Memory Diagnostic.

To do so:

  1. On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key  and type memory. Then click on Windows Memory Diagnostic.

  2. Be sure to save your work & close all apps on your PC before clicking Restart now and check for problems (Recommended).

  3. Wait until Windows restarts again(that’s when the memory test finishes), and then:
  • If you get a report of memory errors, then follow the on-screen instructions to further troubleshoot.
  • If you get a No memory errors were detected from Windows Memory Diagnostic, then you don’t have failing/failed memory on your RAM. You might have to move to Fix 5 to get this 0x00000019(Bad_Pool_Header) fixed.

This hardware issue can be caused by aging or faulty system components like the hard drive and RAM and corrupt device drivers, and missing system files.

And when this occurs, the file you are working on normally ends up being fatal – it could be a video project, an important document, or a presentation, for instance.

Occasionally, the file becomes infected, and other times, the file disappears or the changes made are lost. It also causes file system errors and drives to become corrupted.

A Hardware Clean Boot, unlike a regular Clean Boot, requires disabling hardware components that are not necessary for a system to run in the Device Manager. To start, press the Win+R keys to open the Run window. Then, to open the Device Manager, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. Disable the following drivers:
